Boston Marathon Finish

04/18/2011

Just a quick update for those who are interested.

My day when perfectly. Although the Strider’s bus was 45 minutes late we will still in the Athlete’s Village in plenty of time. I rested, fueled and peed on schedule and arrived in corral 4 of wave two perfectly prepared to race.

I ran faster than I had planned for the first 16 miles. I had wanted to do 8:20s but got into a 8:10 rhythm and never was able to easy up.

I struggled, although not badly, through the 5 miles of hills. Then was torchered from mile 21 to the end by cramps in my legs.

However, a 3:45 finish was a more than a respectable race and a huge bounce back from last year’s disaster.

I struggle with stomach issues through the afternoon but rallied for a great dinner in the North End with the family and friends.

I loved running The Boston Marathon, loved being part of the whole week of Marathon in Boston leading up to the big day, loved the 4 months of training. It was an absolutely incredible experience.

Thanks to all my supporters – you are the best!
